I love you all!!! My stepmom had me worried that everyone in the "real world" would think I'm strange for continuing to collect dolls. (Although I'm apparently not the only college student whose American Girl dolls followed her to college... well, two of them...) She even mentioned some odd thing about guys being creeped out and not wanting to marry me...

Anyway, I'm looking for an American Girl with long dark brown hair and green eyes... the retired GT10... the closest one I've found on ebay had a very unfortunate haircut and costs too much to get her if I'd have to send her in for a new wig anyway.
I'm writing a story to go with the doll I always wished Pleasant Company would make when I was little... but I guess there wasn't much call for an Eastern-European girl living in Pennsylvania's coal region... Back then, it was a big deal for a little girl to even have one of the dolls (*cough* spoiled niece demanding more dolls *cough*), and my mom had gotten me Samantha, so I didn't dare ask for another one when the Girl of Today dolls came out... But now I can get my own and I want to make her a wardrobe and stories and such... (I got myself Lindsey as a celebration of making it into my first-choice college- I love that she's a crazy trumpet player like me! Yeah, I applied early-admit so she wasn't retired yet.)(I also got my mom Molly because she grew up a lot like Molly did... I "rescued" Felicity and Kirsten from Ebay... and I got Nellie... Yay for having a job!!!)
Anyway, my other option is just getting a doll with green eyes and re-wigging her.
I've gotten some great suggestions for places to look for wigs, and the sites all have gorgeous wigs, but if I replace the wig myself, I'd like to replace it with just plain old straight hair like the dolls already have... maybe without the bangs, if I can get one. I think no-bangs would look better with a babushka

Does anyone know of a reasonably-priced GT-10 doll looking for a home? Or of someplace I can get a plain, straight, dark brown wig like the American Girl dolls come with?

Welcome to the board! It sounds like you have a great collection . I know which auction you are talking about, and yes, that haircut is rather unfortunate . I'm sorry, but I do not know of any other AGT10's for sale (I'm kind of looking for one, myself ), but I know on the Monique doll wig site you should be able to find a wig similar to AGT10's . Good luck!

Welcome to the board! And don't feel weird about collecting in college .. . that's when I started my collection up again after an almost 10 year hiatus! I would do a Google search for doll wigs and see what you come up with. Also search the hostboard using the word "wigs" or "rewigging", and I know people have talked about where to get wigs from before. Good luck!!!

Yep!
Thanks for the link, though. Whoever put that together did a great job with their site. Would it be weird to suggest that they include doll head measurements for wigs, too?

Ok, so I looked a little harder and found these two wigs:

Denise:
https://secure.wavi.com/allaboutdoll...&preadd=action
(at All About Dolls)
and

Marie:
https://secure.wavi.com/monique/cgi-...&preadd=action
(they also show it on a MyTwinn doll, and it looks really nice)
(at the Monique site)

has anyone had any experience in purchasing either of these wigs?
(i'm still searching the other boards to find out what size wig the AG dolls need...)

Also, keep an eye on eBay. I got a PM #10 a couple months ago for about $65 (and she was wearing the complete Urban outfit). You particularly want to look for one that is not quite listed correctly.

Have you seen this site yet?http://www.justmagicdolls.com/articles/rewig/rewig.htm

I believe an AG has a wig size of 11, and think the Denise wig looks really nice but I don't have any experience with it personally.

Good luck on your search for AGT 10 (or making your own)! I had to search ebay for her last year myself and it took a while but I finally got her and she is beautiful!
